from a water driven electric turbine, along with a wood burning
stove. Local sheep's wool is used for insulation in the roof,

farm, with outdoor sauna and hot tub, yoga classes, holistic
treatments and organic food or use Ard Nahoo as a base to explore
the local area and for nearby hiking, surfing, horseriding, kayaking,
and caving. The cabins were constructed using green principles
under the guidance of the architect, Peter Cowman, using sustainable
cedar from neighbouring county Donegal, hemp insulation, limited
concrete, no petro chemicals and natural paints throughout. They
are heated using pellet stoves, and come with an underground
recycling facility.

Eco friendly self-catering accommodation in the beautiful rolling
landscape of North Leitrim, located beside a farm in
the townland of Tawnylust. Fantastic views of the surrounding
countryside, with many activites or simply stay home and enjoy
the peace. The house has passive solar heating, solar panels
for hot water, low wattage under floor heating, recycled paper
insulation, an inbuilt heat recovery system, and electricity
from a renewable energy company. Tawnylust Lodge was awarded
the EU Ecolabel in July 2008, and features in Catherine Mack's
book Ecoescapes
as one of the top eco destinations in Ireland.
