Timeshare
The selling of timeshare properties
has had some bad press over the years -we set out to see if we
could find timeshare developments based on strong ethical principles.
There aren't many out there, but what we did find is worth a
look.
UK:
- Trelowarren,
Mawgan, Helston -http://www.trelowarren.co.uk
As
far as we can see, Trelowarren is the worlds first eco-timeshare,
and they have done it very well too. Half of the cottages in
this 30 house eco-community are avalaible as timeshares. The
aim of the community is to be completely carbon neutral as well
as self sufficient in food and fuel. A mixture of old new cottages
are set in a beautiful Cornish estate with views over the Lizard
and all necessary facilities from restaurant to pool powered
by CHP boiler fueled from coppicing on the estate.
Costa Rica
- Gaia Vista -http://www.gaiavista.com/eco-village.php
A new eco-resort and retreat under development on
the Pacific coast. Their aim is to create a sustainable community
dedicated to environmental and sustainable research, collaboration
and education -they set out their vision as creating "a
model of a new way of living, and as a place to heal, grow and
re-awaken deeper aspects of ourselves". They propose be
a showcase of these sustainable technologies and the completed
resort will include two ecolodges, rainforest canopy tour and
treehouses, sky-hammock, waterfall hot tub, health spa and organic
restaurant. They are currently looking for investors and prospective
owners to join them.
